Understanding the BCRFA Development Grant application process

  • This program is designed for BCRFA members in good standing to apply for funding for training for their employees. If you are an employee seeking grant funding, please speak to your employer about this opportunity offered exclusively to BCRFA members.

The BCRFA Development Fund Committee awards grants twice a year in February and October. Applications are accepted year round and considered in January and September. Deadlines for intake periods are July 31 and November 30.

  • On this page, you will see a list of our Preferred Educators and links to their current programming. This is just the start!

The committee has selected a range of preferred training facilities that offer programming for many facets of our industry. However, applicants are not limited to choosing from this list.

Grant applications for training programs outside this list are welcome but will have an additional layer to the application process so that the committee may evaluate the program to ensure its suitability. This additional layer will include, but is not limited to, providing a detailed course curriculum, website links, and comparative pricing from competing training programs.

Please keep in mind that training facilities do not need to be accredited schools. The funding is open to a broad spectrum of industry training and development.

Feel free to reach out to us to see if your course would be accepted for submission.

  • In addition to your company and employee details, please be prepared with detailed information about your training program - location of course, dates, tuition, etc.

You are also invited to add projected expenses to your application - travel, meals, accommodation.

Please be prepared to explain why your employee was selected to receive training/professional development and what the desired outcome is for your employee and your business. This can include skill building for current position, eligibility for promotion, increased wage, encouraging employee retention, expanding company’s products/services/reach, etc.

  • Upon applying, you will receive a confirmation letter that your application has been received. Following on that, you will receive either a letter indicating your application has been accepted for consideration or a letter of decline.

  • The company applying must be a BCRFA member in good standing. The employee who will receive the training is not required to be a member.
